Guatemala; a vacation destination

Guatemala, a country in Northern Central America, is one of the best places to spend your vacation if you're thinking along the lines of tropical, wildlife, and adventure.
Guatemala borders Mexico to the north northwest, Belize to the northeast, El Salvador to the south, and Honduras to the south east. The pacific coastline to the southwest and the short coastal region facing the Caribbean to the east make Guatemala a great travel destination.

Millions of people vacation in Mexico every year. Some see the Mayan pyramids and ruins, some go for the beautiful beaches and fruity drinks that have a little umbrella. Doing either one of these may make you miss out on a truly memorable vacation by feeling like it went by like some kind of fast forward blur. Why not slow things down a bit with one of Mexico's horseback riding vacations?

Horse back riding vacation

By using your vacation time to explore the Mexican country on horseback, you will see the countryside in its full splendor. You can dismount from the horse, walk the land, go amongst the natural beauty. Many of the trails are on privately fenced in land. But don't be worried about seeing the fences; they are well concealed and many times you won't even get near them.

The Endangered Quetzal of Central America

Posted by social12 in Untagged

The Quetzal is a very odd bird to see, there are 6 different species of Quetzal, all more beautiful than the last. Once you see one, you’ll know right away what it is. It’s bright colors and small sizes are distinct give-aways.

What a Quetzal Bird Looks Like

This question is getting harder and harder to answer, since many of the Quetzal bird species have died and are very tough to raise in captivity. If  you see one, it will look as tropical and as diverse a toucan. The bird is one of a kind, and instantly recognizable for its yellow Mohawk, bright two-tone green over feathers that looks much like a feathered vest over its back and shoulders. The “vest” hangs over the bird’s highly recognizable dark-red chest feathers. When seeing this rare bird, it makes one wonder why it’s colored in such a fantastic way.

Protected by the Department of Péten in Guatemala, the Tikal ruins is a relatively large archaeological site. It's one of the best places to visit, if you happen to be in Guatemala.
It is believed that the site was built during the Classic Period of the Mayan civilization, along with the most consequential seats of power in Mesoamerica, a place in the pre-Columbian time that is now known to us as the Northern Central America and Southern Mexico.

Whale Watching Mexico

Posted by social12 in Untagged

Thousands of gray whales from California migrate past the Belize Barrier Reef, through the shallow waters of Mexico. The gray whales migrate over 6,000 miles, relocating from the cold waters of the Bering Sea and Chukchi Sea during the winter season, to the warmer seas of the Baja California in the central Pacific coast.

The whales settle in the Scammon's Lagoon in Mexico from the middle of December to March, until they go back to their summer habitat in the Pacific. About 1,500 whales, which include the offspring, migrate every year.

The Top 4 Bird Species for Yucatan Wildlife Enthusiasts

Posted by social12 in Untagged

social12

As a birdwatcher visiting the Yucatan, getting lost in the immense wildlife can often happen. To avoid this and to help you stay focused on finding the birds you want to watch, I have compiled a list of the top four bird species to keep your eyes open for while navigating the dense forests and jungles of the Yucatan. To keep it challenging for you, some of these birds are common and some are not, so don’t sit around, get into the Yucatan wildlife and find what you came to see! One of the strangest birds among the Yucatan wildlife is the Ocellated Turkey. The Yucatan Ocellated Turkey has a bluish-purple head with a dark purple beak. Its body is covered in the same turquoise feathers, but they seem to dance with the light f the day almost as if they were metallic. It’s roughly the same size as the wild American Turkey. It is capable of flight because of its lightweight, wild Turkeys can fly unlike the popular belief that they cannot. The Ocellated Turkey will usually be found in the open plains or hiding among the other wildlife in the thick brush of the Yucatan.
